“How long should I stay?” It’s one of the most common questions we get asked.
The simple answer is that it depends on the specific level of dental care required.
For teeth whitening or some other simple procedures, your dental tourism trip might only need to be a few days.
But when it comes to dental implants, the question is less about how long you fly in for on one trip. Instead you need to think about how many trips will your treatment require, and what happens between them.
Many people make the mistake of booking their flights first, then expecting their dental treatment to shoehorn around those flight dates.
The actual length of your stay depends on several factors, including:
- the procedure
- how many teeth require treatment
- if surgery is involved
- laboratory time
- try-in appointments
- healing time
- if temporary teeth or final teeth are being placed
- whether any review appointment is required before you travel home
How Long Should You Stay in Turkey for Dental Treatment? Treatment Breakdown
Treatment Typical planning structure
Teeth whitening Usually 1–2 days
Composite bonding Usually 1–3 days depending how many teeth need treatment
Veneers Typically around 5–7 days
Dental crowns Typically around 5–7 days if multiple units
Single dental implant Two separate treatment stages separated by healing interval
Multiple implants Treatment is usually staged
All-on-4 / All-on-6 Treatment is usually first surgical trip then healing period then second trip for final teeth to be fitted
Bone graft / sinus lift May extend surgical plan and healing interval
Remember, these are guidelines for treatment planning purposes only. They are not set-in-stone or guaranteed.
Your dentist will know how long you need once they assess your mouth.
Why Is There Not One Specific Timeframe for Dental Treatment?
Because dental treatment in Turkey isn’t one specific thing!
Just because you’re having dental work done in Turkey doesn’t mean you’re having the same dental work done.
Having four composite bonding restorations does not require the same amount of time as getting twenty crowns.
Having an implant won’t take the same amount of time as getting veneers.
Some of the things that can impact your treatment timeline include needing fillings:
- existing decay or need for root canal treatment
- gum health
- number of teeth being treated
- laboratory procedures
- if extractions are required
- bone quality
- implant stability
- sinus grafting or bone grafting
- if temporary teeth are required
- changes made at the try-in appointment
How Long Should You Stay in Turkey for Veneers?
Most porcelain veneers trips are treated within an estimated time frame of 5–7 days.
Many people ask why dental veneers can’t be done in one day if the dentist can prepare the teeth in a single appointment.
Dentist can prepare teeth in one appointment, but what about the rest of the process?
Veneer treatment is often completed in stages that look like this:
Initial Consultation and Clinical Examination
The dentist evaluates your teeth, gums, and bite to determine if veneers are a good treatment option for you.
They may also take X-rays or 3d scans for digital smile design, depending on your individual needs.
Your dentist should have a definitive treatment plan in place before they begin shaving down your tooth surfaces.
Tooth Preparation & Scan
If you do require preparation, your dentist will prepare your teeth, then take impressions or digital scans of your teeth.
Temporary veneers are often placed while the dental lab creates your new veneers.
Lab Work
Next, your dental lab will create your veneers.
The dental lab is why getting multiple veneers or crowns often can’t be done in a same-day appointment.
Try-In Appointments
Once your veneers are completed by the lab, they will contact you to schedule a try-in appointment.
It’s at this appointment that the dentist will confirm:
- tooth shape is ideal
- shade matches
- veneers fit properly without being too tight or too loose
- there is a comfortable amount of contact between teeth
- teeth look great alongside your gums
Note: During the try-in appointment, you may decide that you want to change certain things about your veneers.
Final Placement & Bite Check
Once you approve of the veneers, they will bond them to your teeth. Finally, they will check your bite to ensure you don’t have any high spots that need adjusting.
Treatment can be complete at this point, although in some cases it’s recommended to schedule one final appointment before traveling home, especially if you received veneers.
The exact amount of time required will differ from clinic to clinic depending on how fast their lab works and the complexity of your new smile.
How Long Should You Stay for Dental Crowns?
Multiple dental crowns often require about the same amount of time as veneers.
Five to seven days is typical for larger cosmetic crown cases, including zirconium crowns, that include multiple teeth.
However, that’s not to say that every crown case takes a full week.
Just one crown placed on an isolated tooth could theoretically follow a condensed treatment schedule.
Conversely, if you’re getting a full Hollywood smile makeover that includes many crowns then you may need additional days for lab work and multiple try-in appointments.
Some patients prefer to be seen for a final check up after they’ve had some time to live with the teeth at home.
We’ll talk more about that below.
How Long Do You Need in Turkey for Dental Implants?
Planning for dental implants in Turkey is slightly different because many cases require a healing interval that occurs between dental trips.
The first thing to understand about dental implants is that for most cases, you’ll need at least two trips to the dentist.
Trip One: Implant Placement
This stage may include:
- dental examination
- CBCT scan or other imaging
- final surgical treatment plan
- tooth extraction if necessary
- implant placement
- temporary restorations if appropriate
- post-operative consultation
Simple cases where only one implant is placed may require less clinical days.
Other cases that require multiple implants placed or full-arch rehabilitation may take additional days to complete.
Remember: these appointments do not typically mean you’re getting your final implant restoration placed.

What Happens Between Visit One and Visit Two for Your Implants?
Once your dentist implants the posts into your jawbone, they need time to heal.
During this healing phase, the implants integrate with the bone in a process known as osseointegration.
Osseointegration typically takes around 3–6 months. However, each case will vary from patient to patient.
During this healing interval, you’ll likely be at home. You won’t need to stay in Turkey.
How long this takes depends on your dentist and how quickly they feel you’ve healed.
Your dentist should only give you the okay for the next step when they feel the implant is stable enough.
Some of the things they take into consideration include:
- the stability of the implant
- bone density
- placement of the implant
- any grafting that was done
- how well you’ve healed
- your general health
- treatment protocol
Your dentist should not base this date off of when you can find a cheap flight home.

Trip Two: Placement of Final Restoration(s)
Once your dentist gives you the thumbs up, you’ll return to Turkey to receive your final restoration(s) on your implant(s).
These restorations, or full implant-supported dentures, may include:
- confirmation that the implant is ready
- scan or impression taking
- abutment stage if necessary
- lab production of teeth
- bridge or crown try-in
- final fittings and bite adjustments
Keep in mind that one single implant with a crown won’t usually take as long as an implant supported fixed bridge.
“What Does ‘Same-Day Dental Implants’ Mean?”
Same-day dental implants or immediate loading treatment allows dentists to provide their patients with temporary teeth immediately following implant placement.
However, immediate loading doesn’t always mean you get ALL the dental work done in one day.
…
Even if you get same-day implants, the dental implants still need time to heal!
The temporary teeth used during immediate loading are typically NOT the final restoration.
If you see a clinic advertising:
“Get your new teeth in one day”
Ask them:
Will these be my final teeth? Or are these temporary teeth to be used while my implants heal?
Asking that question can save you from a lot of misunderstandings.
How Long Should You Stay if You’re Getting All-on-4?
Implant treatment isn’t limited to just single teeth. You can get full arch treatments like All-on-4 or all-on-6 dental implants done too!
These procedures typically require multiple dental trips. The general schedule looks something like this:
Trip One
- Removal of any teeth that need extracting
- Dental implant surgery
- Placement of temporary fixed teeth if you qualify for immediate loading
- Bite check
- First post-op checkup
You would then return home while your implants heal.
Once your dentist confirms that your implants have healed, you would then make a return trip to Turkey to pick up your final teeth.
However, this stage can require multiple appointments by itself because your dentist needs to make sure:
- tooth positions are correct
- your bite is working
- you’re able to speak properly
- teeth aren’t showing when you smile
- the permanent teeth fit properly
- you approve of the material / aesthetics of the teeth
Do You Need a Bone Graft or Sinus Lift? Will That Impact Your Treatment Time?
During your dental exam, your dentist may discover you don’t have enough bone to support an implant.
If this is the case, they may recommend you receive a bone graft.
Sometimes bone grafts are even required in your sinus area to properly support implants in the upper back part of your mouth.
Having a bone graft or sinus lift can impact:
- your initial trip
- your recovery time
- how long the dentist will wait to load your implants
- how long you’ll have to wait until your next appointment
There are cases where the implant placement and bone graft happens at the same time.
However, there are also cases where bone grafts and sinus lifts need to be done weeks or even months before the actual implant placement.
I cannot stress enough that you CANNOT determine this based on one photo message you send over WhatsApp.
Only an up-close clinical exam and proper imaging will allow your dentist to create a final treatment plan with accurate timeframes.
Questions to Ask Your Dentist Before Booking Your Hotel
Rather than asking…
“How many days will I need to stay for dental treatment?”
Request to see your treatment plan day by day.
Here are some questions to consider asking:
- Which day is my initial examination?
- When will you let me know my final treatment plan?
- When will you prepare teeth or do any surgery?
- Will I receive temporary teeth?
- How many try-in appointments are included?
- When will the lab create my final teeth/restorations?
- Which appointment is my final appointment?
- Will I be seen after my final appointment?
- What happens if something needs to be remade?
- Will I need more than one trip to Turkey?
- If I’m receiving implants, when will you fit my final teeth?
- When do YOU recommend that I fly home?
Answering these questions is much more useful than simply being told:
“You will stay for seven nights.”
One Trip vs Two Trips? Question You Should Ask Before Anything
Some treatments only require one trip to Turkey.
Things like veneers and crowns are usually accomplished in one seating.
But when dental implants are involved, you’re often looking at at least TWO trips to the dentist.
For larger smile makeovers or a complex full-mouth restoration, more than two trips might be required.
How many trips you take is something you should discuss up front with your dentist as it also has cost implications:
- buying a second plane ticket
- paying for a second hotel stay
- transportation to and from the airport
- time off work
- having to take additional days for review appointments
A cheaper price overseas won’t eliminate the extra costs of splitting your treatment up into multiple trips.
What If You Need One More Day?
Ask your dentist:
- Can you extend your hotel room?
- Who pays for the extra night?
- Can your flight be rescheduled?
- Will the lab remake fee be included?
- What happens if you CAN’T stay extra days?
I cannot stress this enough if you’re participating in dental tourism in turkey for your care.
Trying to change your flight home last minute will cost you A LOT more money than taking a day or two off simply isn’t an option.
Follow-Up Appointments After Returning Home
Before you leave Turkey make sure you keep:
- your treatment summary
- All x-rays and CBCT scans if applicable
- implant records if applicable
- material information and paperwork
- any prescriptions they provide
- aftercare instructions and information
- contact details should you need to reach the clinic
Also find out WHO to contact if you have:
- persistent pain or swelling
- feel like one of your teeth are loose
- something wrong with your bite
- issues with your temporary teeth
If you’re having major work done, it’s also smart to know how you’ll be seen for follow-up care at home before you leave.
How Long Should You Stay for Dental Treatment? Final Thoughts…
There’s no magical number of days that will apply to every patient traveling to Antalya or other regions in Turkey for dental work.
Patients normally stay around 5–7 days for veneers or getting multiple crowns done.
But when you start adding dental implants into the mix, your treatment will likely include:
Trip to Turkey for surgery
Healing Interval
Return trip to Turkey to pick up your final teeth
Just because you can get your teeth done same-day doesn’t mean you should. You’ll still need to heal from surgery before getting your final teeth.
All-on-4 teeth or All-on-6 teeth treatment is an example of implant treatment that can provide you teeth to chew on during your first trip. However, you should NOT confuse these teeth with your final teeth that you’ll receive after they’ve healed.
The best dental clinics won’t just tell you…
“You need seven nights for your dental work.”
Instead they should provide you with a day-by-day schedule of:
What procedure will happen when
If you’re receiving temporary teeth or final teeth
And if you should anticipate more than one trip to Turkey.
